Business Plan Competition

Save the Date! Wednesday, April 29, 2020 @ Cascade Theater in Redding, CA

The Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP), hosted by Shasta College, is a  program designed to help young people between the ages of 14 and 18 realize and attain their business goals.  Through entrepreneurship education and one-on-one counseling, YEP helps young people build skills, unlock creativity, and discover pathways to opportunities in small and large businesses.  Participants will learn real world business practices such as leadership development, team building, financial management, communication, and business etiquette.

This year marks the 13th annual Youth Entrepreneurship Program's Business Concepts and Video Elevator Pitch Competition.  This is an opportunity for our young people to showcase their creativity and innovative ideas while entering to win seed capital to help start their businesses. 

Remember, all contestants must be 14 to 18 years of age and be legal residents of Shasta, Trinity, Tehama, Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Humboldt, Del Norte, Modoc, Siskiyou, or Plumas Counties in California.

The competition is divided into the three phases below:

Phase 1: Mar. 1, 2020

Participants must answer questions about their business plan idea. See directions and link below. Submission is due by 11:30pm.

Phase 2: Mar. 30, 2020

Participants submit a 60-90 second video pitching their business idea.  A panel of judges will select the top five (5) submissions to move forward to Phase 3 - the LIVE PITCH. Submission is due by 11:30pm.

2020 Phase 2 Scoring Guide

 

Phase 3: April 29, 2020

The top 5 finalists compete LIVE at the Cascade Theater by  presenting their idea in front of a panel of local judges and an audience of their peers.  All finalists receive Startup funds donated by US Bank. The presentations are to be 3 to 5 minutes in length.  The final event is held annually and ALL high schools in the region are WELCOME to attend for FREE!
